AVX launches SpiTAN IV

AVX tantalum capacitor

Using data mined from the libraries of AVX’s previous PSpice Models and S-Parameters S2P software, which are now redundant, the SpiTAN IV software allows design engineers to review electrical and performance characteristics for individual part numbers by temperature and frequency, allowing them to identify and select the optimum capacitor for an application.

Searchable by part number or product type — the list of which currently includes: low profile, high CV, low ESR, polymer, niobium oxide, and high reliability capacitors — results can be refined by capacitance, rated voltage, case size, and ESR.

Once a part is selected for further investigation, users can easily manipulate frequency and temperature on interactive graphs to access part-specific electrical and performance data over frequency, including: capacitance, ESR, DF, impedance, ripple voltage, and ripple current.

The program also allows users to input application voltage and temperature information to chart DCL over time, as well as provides an equivalent circuit diagram with characteristics for each parameter.

Additionally, the new SpiTAN IV software provides users with the ability to print charts and download both serial and SHUNT S-parameters with a single click.
