Sigfox IoT network reaches 50 countries
“The network now covers over 949 million people worldwide, with 423 Sigfox-certified devices,” said the organisation.
Chile, Ecuador, El Salvador, Panama, Malaysia, South Korea, Hungary, Switzerland and the UAE have also recently joined in and, according to Sigfox, it is on track to reach 60 countries by the end of 2018.
Four partner companies are operating the newest networks:
- HELIOT in Austria and Liechtenstein
- IoT Norway in Norway
- SimpleIoT in Romania
- Liquid Telecom in Kenya
“We are delighted to welcome these operators into the global IoT ecosystem.” said Sigfox v-p Europe Emma Park.
Sigfox is uses ultra-narrowband (100Hz) modulation, with short messages transferred at 100 or 600bit/s.
It is a competitor to LoRa.
