- Powercast, founded in 2003, is the spearhead of radio frequency (RF)-based long-range power-over-distance wireless charging technology. Charging devices no longer requires wires, charging mats, or direct line of sight, as the embedded wireless power solution works in the far field for over-the-air charging of multiple devices at a distance of up to 80 feet for some applications. When in range of a transmitter, enabled devices recognize and begin charging automatically. With Powercast’s remote wireless charging, there is no need for contact with a power source as required with inductive, coil-based charging.
